Deputy CISO, VP Cloud Security at Protective Life

As the Deputy CISO and VP of Cloud Security at Protective Life, John Byrd focuses on integrating security as a key driver of technology modernization. Before returning to the insurance industry, John spent about eight years building cloud security teams at USBank, BBVA bank, and supported banks while working at Amazon Web Services. He actively contributes to the local security and technical community leaning on his previous roles as Vice President of Central Alabama ISSA, a founding member of the Alabama Cloud Security Alliance chapter, and most recently, his appointment to the State of Alabama's Technical Advisory Committee for Information Technology.
